Gadget Hunterzzz started as a spreadsheet of things that broke, disappointed, or flat-out lied in their listing photos. Six years later it's a whole operation built to sniff out the gear that actually holds up — tested by hand, priced fair, shipped fast.
It cracked in four days flat on a desk that had never so much as been leaned on. The listing had 4.8 stars — bought stars, clearly, since nobody in the reviews had used the thing past the photoshoot.
That was 2019: two co-founders, one shared laptop, and a spreadsheet titled "gadgets that lied." We tested viral gear the way nobody selling it ever had — dropped, drained, left in a hot car, handed to a toddler.
Most failed within a week. The few that didn't became our first five products, sold from a spare bedroom to friends tired of asking if the thing actually works.
"We didn't set out to build a store. We set out to stop wasting our own money on garbage. The store was just what happened when other people asked where we'd been shopping."
The short version of how a spreadsheet turned into an actual company — told in the order it happened, because that's the only order that makes sense here.
One broken phone stand, one spreadsheet titled "gadgets that lied." Born out of pure spite.
First 1,000 orders shipped from a spare bedroom. Four gadgets rejected for every one listed.
Built our own testing rig — drop tests, battery benches, and one very abused kettlebell.
Crossed 10,000 hunters. Introduced the 30-day return policy — "final sale" is a coward's move.
Opened a real warehouse. Retired the spare bedroom — and, mercifully, the kettlebell.
12,400+ hunters strong, hand-testing every gadget. Same spreadsheet spirit, better tools.
Every gadget on this site went through the same gauntlet — no exceptions, no favors for good marketing photos.
Manufacturer catalogs, viral feeds, reader tips — hundreds of candidates land on the list every month.
Used like you'd actually use it: dropped, drained, left in a hot car, handed to a toddler.
Claims get checked against results. Oversell it, and it doesn't make the cut — however well it photographs.
What survives is listed, priced fair, and shipped within 24 hours. It already earned its spot.
Tap any line — these are the rules that decide what actually makes it onto the site.
No drop-shipping from a catalog. If it's on the site, someone on our team has unboxed it, used it for real, and lived with it long enough to know if the shine wears off.
Bought ratings are the oldest trick in the book. We'd rather show our own honest testing notes — warts and all — than borrow someone else's fake enthusiasm.
Planned obsolescence is a business model. Just not ours. Our stress-tests run well past the window most brands are quietly banking on you not noticing.
Viral doesn't mean verified. Plenty of gadgets look incredible in a 9-second clip and fall apart in real life — exactly what our testing rig exists to catch.
Small team, strong opinions about phone stands. Here's who's actually testing your next gadget.
Still owns the broken phone stand. Keeps it on his desk as a warning to everyone else.
Verified hunterRuns the drop tests and battery benches. Has broken more gadgets on purpose than most people will ever own.
Verified hunterGets your order out the door in under 24 hours, every time — no exceptions, no "processing delays."
Verified hunterReads every single review. Actually replies to your emails — usually within the hour.
Verified hunterEarly access to new drops, the testing notes we don't publish anywhere else, and the occasional gadget that didn't survive testing — we'll tell you exactly why.
No spam, ever. Just gadgets worth knowing about, and the ones to avoid.
